​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Our Team Hope and Food Support programs are designed to help individuals and target the most vulnerable people we serve. Our Social Care Team is comprised of three social workers – Lucy, Dez, and Isaya – who supervise and guide these services, as well as some of our Financial Care programs. TOBFC’s 19 Complete Community Care Team staff are our outreach team on the ground that delivers these services.

 

Our 19 Complete Community Care Team employees provide key feedback from each community that informs our program development. We tailor our services to respond to the unique needs of each community we support. TOBFC advocates for the most vulnerable to ensure that communities are part of the solution when plans are developed for our catchment area.

TOBFC staff also conducts community outreach programs to increase health awareness and education. Over the past few years, TOBFC has run programming that has improved the health and related knowledge of thousands of individuals.

TOBFC conducts community seminars on topics such as:

• diabetes, high blood pressure, epilepsy and mental health, educating thousands of community members about prevalent health challenges in their communities

• women’s health, educating hundreds of women about breast and ovarian cancer, family planning and menopause

• sexual health, raising awareness about sexually transmitted diseases, promoting safe sex and proper use of condoms, and reducing stigma associated with HIV/AIDS

• diarrheal diseases, educating parents about the importance of hygiene and hand washing to prevent sickness. Over 50 hand-washing stations have been built in kindergarten schools and communities.

 

Our Water is Life program focusses on providing clean, safe drinking water that is convenient for communities to use.

 

The TOBFC Infrastructure Development program co-ordinates and constructs all the projects in our catchment area that support our program delivery and respond to community needs.
