2023-24  BACK To SCHOOL Campaign

Thank you so much to everyone who supported our 2023-24 Back To School Campaign. We raised an astounding CAN $19,600 – 98% of our $20,000 goal! – to cover necessary educational costs for 30 primary students, 15 high school students, and 27 college and university students.

Your donations helped sponsor school fees for our high school students, plus uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, pens, coloured pencils, and more for our primary and secondary students. As well, we were able to purchase laptops, cell phones, internet, clothing, and school bags for our college and university students.

Thank you to LiUNA! Local 183 for continuing their incredible commitment to our educational programs as our Academic Support Program Sponsor for the 2023-24 school year. Their generous donation provided scholarships to our college and university students to cover school fees, food, accommodation, and stationery supplies.

Education is at the core of all our programming and addresses gender equity while bringing about generational change for the students we support and the communities where they live.

Thank you to our Global Family for supporting our students’ educational journey and help us make their dreams come true!

Thank you for supporting our TOBFC Back To School Campaign for the 2021-22 academic year. We raised CAN $6,650 to support our primary, high school, college, and university students. Your donations purchased new uniforms, shoes, school supplies, computers and other electronics necessary for studies, as well as internet costs, transportation costs and field placement fees.

Thank you to our Academic Support Program Sponsor, LiUNA! Local 183 for providing scholarships to all our high school and university students for the academic year. Their funding provides all the school fees, accommodation costs as well as some other school related expenses.

2020 emergency fundraising campaign

Due to the pandemic, we had to cancel our 2020 in-person annual fundraising gala. Instead, we held an emergency fundraising campaign that was a huge success.

We raised CAN $42,205, exceeding our target of $40,000. Thank you for your generosity!

Sikiliza Mngurumo Wake: Hear Her Roar

PA045956.JPG

In 2018, TOBFC had four of our talented young women Mlombwa, Winni, Ikupa and Lucy, start college and university. Mlombwa attended The University of Dar-es-Salaam, Winni joined The University of Dodoma, Ikupa began at Mzumbe University and Lucy went to The Bulongwa Health Sciences Institute. Supporting our young women on their academic journeys is vital to addressing gender inequality in their communities and creates generational change through education.

Post-secondary education comes at a significantly higher price than earlier academic levels. Not only does TOBFC cover school fees, living costs, textbooks and school supplies, we must equip our college and university students with laptops so they can complete their course work.

Mlombwa decided to run the Dar Rotary Marathon to raise funds to help cover their university costs. We decided to follow Mlombwa's lead and created a team of seven runners and each registered to run the half-marathon.

Our team of seven runners, led by Mlombwa, included Deborah, Winnie, Putiyei, Allison, Roma, and Tanzanian Freestyle Champion and Kubuni artist Selementally.

We raised CAN $1,980, surpassing our goal of $1,890!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS CAMPAIGN SUCCESSFUL!
